Master bedroom redo

The master bedroom somehow when we painted and decorated when moved in I didnt get a photo. I have the before photo before we moved in. I dont know why I dont have one after we were done. Anyways, we had dark plum bedding and curtains and black night stands/ dresser.  It seemed so dark.  I was browsing pinterest and found some pallet headboards, told hubby and within a couple hours we had built one. I whitewashed it so it wasnt so harsh. A friend of ours gave me some night stands and I painted them white, changed our bedding to a light blue and gray and changed out my curtains to sheer white. I love it!!
Before we painted when we moved in. We painted it gray.

Just this week. I love it!

Reinventing the blog

I'm back and I'm reinventing this blog. I'm coming back as a home improvement blog. We're constantly renovating something in our home and I want to be able to keep a log of everything.
After 9 years of marriage and 2 houses I'm just now finding my decorating style. So our home is undergoing some drastic decorating redos. Along with a few things we've wanted to do ever since we moved in.   So to start off here is the home when we purchased it 2 years ago! Pretty bare.
I need to weed my flowerbeds so I can take an updated photo. :-)
We did add a fire pit to the side yard.
I will post the "before" photos on each blog post I do with the updated photos.

Migraines and the wonder of Essential oils

Last night I had my 3rd ever migraine. I'm not a migraine sufferer. I havent found a trigger yet either, they seem random. My last one about 8 months ago got bad. I didnt realize what was going on so I let it go too long. This time I realized the numbness and tingling in my arm/hand and on my face and took tylenol asap.  Along with that I used another fav of mine. Peppermint essential oil. One my great loves. I've literally used 3 bottles this year. I use it all.the.time. If you don't have some get some! All the cool people use it.
I rubbed lavender and peppermint on the side of my head that my migraine was on and laid down with Ice on my head. It did take a while to get relief enough to sleep but it never got as bad as it did last time. I don't know how those of you who get them often deal with them. They are nasty!

Today I'm feeling the "hangover" feeling from it. My house is a mess but frankly I could care less!  I've also been doing some research in case I should get another one ever again and have found a few more oils that work for migraines.   I think I need to put an order in soon.

Yes, I'm an oil lover. I admit it. That right there is a thing of beauty! I actually have 3 more in the mail not here yet!

We use oils for everything. Headaches, stomach aches, colds, sinuses, allergies, bug bites, air freshener, even hormone balancing.
My favorite brand is Young living but lets be honest, who can afford $30-$40 a bottle?? I buy a few from them that I just love but most of mine, as you can see are Aura Cacia. I like those ok but my new favorite is Plant Therapy brand. LOVE them. Great customer service, 100% pure oils and best of all- they are doing a 25 days of christmas sale and everyday on their facebook they have a new deal! Check them out if you need oils! Tuesday I got $10 off my order of $25.

I'm bringing blogging back

Because I'm so tired of the constant judging on facebook and the constant "mommy wars". I am back to blogging.
I've always been a "conformist" mommy. One that feels the need to be the best mommy, to be perfect, to have everything together like you're supposed to.  I feel guilty when I get asked where I work and I answer "at home, I'm a mom" and get that look that says what a lazy lady. Even though I love being a stay at home mom and I KNOW for a fact that my job is harder than most jobs people go to everyday, I still felt like I was being looked down on.
And my style of parenting? Oh boy, I'm in the middle of weird and normal I think. The normal moms look at me like I'm a weirdest organic hippie mom ever and the real organic hippie moms look at me and say why on earth do you let your kids eat cheetos and where are your organic shampoos?
My parenting style is me, not quite normal but not quite hippie either. It works for us.
Anyways, The mommy wars are alive and well on facebook. Everyday it seems like a new status of someone asking about vaccines or carseat safety blows up and gets ugly. Or a post is shared on the top reasons to get the flu vax or why not to get it. Sure everyone has a different opinion, not every parenting choice works for every family. No reason to get snarky and act like your reason for doing something is because it's the right choice, when it's the right choice for your family, not everyones.
Somedays yes I would love a few hours to myself, without having to hear "mom, mom, mom" a million times day. Or a break from the constant removing markers from the wall. Somedays I just plain lose it. But I try to remind myself that this is a season of life. I already see a change in how our household is with my kids being 5 and almost 3. More independence from mama.
So I leave you with this -
Psalms 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

Moms

Being a mom isnt always glamorous. Shocker right??  I know, you thought moms stay at home and eat chocolate watching soap operas all day.  Yeah, not here.
Last night for instance- I couldnt fall asleep til after 11pm and at midnight my 2 girls were both awake ready to play. At one point I had one girl sitting on the potty and another one standing beside me screaming because she wanted me to rock her. I felt like crying with her at that point.
This folks is normal at my house at night. My girls do not sleep well. Never have. Both of them are up at least 2-3 times a night. On average we get 6 hours of sleep in my house. Last night I got 2.
So far today I have cleaned poop, pee, spit up and ground in cookie crumbs up. And its only 9:30 am.
I'll be real honest and say this is what I look like most days-
(My 3 year old took it- thus the blur)  Nothing glamourous about it. Most days I dont even get my hair brushed. Other things take priority.
That being said. I know that this is my calling in life. I'm a Mom. I never wanted to have a career. I didnt go to college because I didnt want to waste money on something I knew I would never use.
I'm not going to lie, its a hard job. Going on 2 hours of sleep when you really just want to take a nap but your 3 year old doesnt nap so naps are out of the question. Instead you muster up the strength and play a game of matching cards with her.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.Ps 127:3

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.Prov 22:6

"She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness." Proverbs 31:27

Temptation

Did you know God can help you get through temptations??

1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Eph 6:11     Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Trust God

In light of the Election results I have been really digging into my bible today. These verses have me at peace.

Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world. Romans 12:2

For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. Phil 4:11

He replied ' Because you have so little faith, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain- move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayers. 1 peter 3:12

Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. James 4:7-8

Is anything to hard for the Lord? Genesis 18:14

Be joyful always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances. 1 Thess. 5:16-18

Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Col 3:2

This is one of my favorites!

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. Nahum 1:7

And most importantly -

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ! Phil 1:27
